After landing at Entebbe Airport, I jumped on a motorcycle taxi that took me straight to a boat waiting on Lake Victoria. The two-hour boat ride across the lake was a great start to the day, with stunning views and fresh air. When we finally reached Mabamba Swamp, I was greeted by an impressive array of birdlife, including four different sightings of the elusive shoebill stork – a rare sight that made the journey even more rewarding.
The swamp was buzzing with activity, as fishermen and locals went about their day in the wetlands. It was fascinating to see life thriving on the water, a unique ecosystem where people and wildlife coexist. The experience gave me a real appreciation for this vibrant environment, and witnessing the shoebills in their natural habitat was the highlight of an unforgettable trip.
