I spent both the morning and evening exploring the beautiful Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, a vibrant wildlife corridor next to Kibale Forest. Known as the “Home of the Great Blue Turaco,” Bigodi is a paradise for bird watchers and primate lovers alike. On my walks, I was lucky enough to spot the striking Great Blue Turaco, with its vivid colors, as well as a fascinating variety of monkeys. I encountered five different primate species, including the Red Colobus, Black & White Colobus, Vervet Monkey, Red-Tailed Monkey, and the elusive L’Hoest Monkey.
The wetlands are home to over 200 bird species and countless primates, so there was always something catching my eye as I made my way along the forest pathways and boardwalks. Bigodi’s combination of scenic beauty and rich biodiversity made it a truly immersive experience in nature and a memorable highlight of my time in Uganda.
