This 10-day, 100-mile trek across Tsavo West to Tsavo East was an unforgettable experience – a journey that truly brought me into the wild heart of Kenya. I wanted to go beyond the typical safari and immerse myself in the landscape, where every step on foot takes you deeper into the essence of the African bush. Walking through Tsavo is entirely different from watching it from a vehicle; you don’t just see the land – you hear it, smell it, and feel it all around you.
Out here, encountering wildlife in their own environment shifts your perspective. You start to see yourself as just a small part of a much larger, fragile ecosystem. It’s a humbling realization, a reminder of nature’s power and resilience in an overpopulated world.
Stepping out of the daily routine and comfort zone for these 10 days was more rewarding than I could have imagined. The nights under a vast, star-studded sky, listening to the calls of distant wildlife, are some of the moments I’ll carry with me forever. This trek wasn’t just a journey across Tsavo – it was a journey into the soul of Africa and, ultimately, into a deeper part of myself.
